High-Performance MX Series Ball Mill from China Suppliers - Leading Factory for Grinding Solutions
Working Principle
Ball mill is composed of a horizontal cylinder, inlet and outlet hollow shaft and grinding parts. The cylinder is a long cylinder made of steel plate, equipped with a grinding body inside. A steel lining plate is fixed to the cylinder. The grinding body is generally a steel ball (or steel section) loaded into the cylinder according to different diameters and a certain proportion based on the particle size of the grinding material. The material is loaded into the cylinder by the hollow shaft of the feed end. When the ball mill cylinder rotates, the grinding body attaches to the lining plate due to inertia, centrifugal force, and friction. When brought to a certain height, it falls due to gravity, acting like a projectile to shatter the material inside.
The material enters the first bin of the mill uniformly through the feeding hollow shaft. The bin is equipped with stepped or corrugated lining plates and contains steel balls of various specifications. The centrifugal force from the cylinder's rotation lifts the steel balls to a certain height before they fall, exerting a heavy impact and grinding effect on the material. After coarse grinding in the first bin, the material enters the second bin through a single compartment plate. This bin features a flat liner plate and steel balls for further fine grinding. The finished powder is then discharged through the discharge grate to complete the operation.
Characteristics and features of MX series ball mill
- Advanced Main Bearing: Adopts a large-diameter double-row aligning roller bearing instead of traditional plain bearings, reducing friction, lowering energy consumption, and facilitating an easy start.
- High Capacity Design: Retains the classic end cover structure of ordinary mills with a large-diameter inlet and outlet to ensure high processing capacity.
- Flexible Feeding Options: Feeders are available as combined or drum types, featuring a simple structure and separate installation.
- Smooth Operation: Eliminates inertial impact, allowing the equipment to run smoothly while reducing downtime and maintenance requirements to boost overall efficiency.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the MX series ball mill work?
The MX series ball mill operates using a horizontal rotating cylinder. As the cylinder rotates, centrifugal force and friction lift the grinding media (steel balls) to a certain height. Gravity then causes them to fall and impact the material inside, effectively crushing and grinding it.
What are the advantages of using double-row aligning roller bearings?
By replacing traditional plain bearings with large-diameter double-row aligning roller bearings, the mill reduces friction and energy consumption. This structural upgrade also makes the ball mill much easier to start.
What is the feeding size and final product size range for the MX series?
The MX series ball mill handles a maximum feeding size of ≤25 mm and is capable of grinding materials down to a final product size ranging from 10 to 300 microns.
How do the two bins inside the cylinder work together?
The first bin uses stepped or corrugated lining plates and larger steel balls for coarse grinding. The material then passes through a single compartment plate into the second bin, where flat liner plates and smaller steel balls perform fine grinding before discharge.
What feeding options are available for these mills?
The feeder system is divided into two distinct configurations: the combined feeder and the drum feeder. Both feature a simple structure and are designed for separate installation to suit different operational requirements.
